Rachel Lynch | I Hate Blonde
Interview with I Hate Blonde, Rachel Lynch:
Gone Bazaar: What’s your background in art?
I Hate Blonde: I studied art at Columbia College in Chicago, and I’ve had a blog since 2009.
Gone Bazaar: What’s your favorite medium (if you had to choose one)?
IHB: I would have to say the marriage of photography + words. I love putting lyrics or my personal writing to a photograph.
Gone Bazaar: Who are some artists that inspire you (past or present):
IHB: Hmmm, I’d have to say Kurt Vile, Paul Banks (of Interpol), Damien Jurado, Henry David Thoreau, Ernest Hemingway, Vladimer Nabokov, Patti Smith, Andy Warhol, and Edie Sedgwick.
Gone Bazaar: What’s your favorite city and your favorite museum or art gallery in that city?
IHB: I went to a few museums in Mexico City that I really loved — the Frida Kahlo museum and Museo Soumaya. I just recently went to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. I also really like the galleries in the 789 district in Beijing. I also really love the Guggenheim.
Gone Bazaar: If you could have a dinner party with 3 artists of your choice (past, present, fictional or real) who would you choose and what would you serve for dinner?
IHB: I’d serve cigarettes and champagne for Patti Smith, Edie Sedgwick and Thoreau.
